With support from the US Embassy in Ukraine’s Media Development Fund, DEMFORUM NGO delivered The Fourth Estate: Influence, Challenges, Responsibility.
The project aimed to develop journalists’ professional skills, critical thinking and a responsible understanding of the media’s role in social and political processes.
Leading Ukrainian journalists gave public lectures and held regional meetings with representatives of national and local media, journalism students, bloggers and civic activists.
Particular attention was paid to professional standards, objectivity, media manipulation and journalists’ responsibility for the quality of information the public receives. Recordings of the lectures were also shared online to make the materials available to a wider audience.
