Discussion panels Seventh International Forum of Central and Eastern Europe Via Carpatia the Espreso TV channels and the Polish public broadcaster TVP Worldwide broadcast live, stories about the event were broadcast by the Japanese TV company NHK and the German ZDF. In total, representatives of about seven dozen Ukrainian and foreign media were accredited to the Forum.
The international forum lasted for three days in Kyiv. This year, for the first time, guests of Via Carpatia were not hosted by the Carpathian region, but by the capital of Ukraine. The forum brought together leading analysts, politicians, diplomats, military personnel and experts from both countries. The delegation of parliamentarians from the Republic of Poland was headed by the head of the Polish-Ukrainian parliamentary group of the Sejm of the Republic of Poland, Marcin Bosatskyi.

Cultural diplomacy, information and military security, top areas for cooperation with the EU became the topics of panel discussions at the Ukrainian-Polish meeting.
“Our common priority is the defense of Europe”, – said Vasyl Bodnar, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Ukraine to Poland, at the opening of the international conference. He expressed hope for Poland’s support during its presidency of the European Union next year in order to open the EU’s doors for Ukraine.

Marcin Bosatskyi, deputy of the Sejm of the Republic of Poland, head of the Polish-Ukrainian parliamentary group, emphasized that there is no closer partner for Ukraine in the world than Poland.
“The strategic interests of Ukraine and Poland are common. If Ukraine is free, self-sufficient, as part of the EU and NATO, then Poland will be safer and more developed.”, – emphasized Marcin Bosatskyi.
Security and defense, as well as energy cooperation and the reconstruction of Ukraine became the topics of panel discussions, during which important statements of the speakers were heard.

Today, Ukraine is very much counting on the solidarity of our Euro-Atlantic partners, because the scale of destruction from the war reaches about 500 billion US dollars. This was emphasized by the Deputy Minister of Development of Communities and Territories of Ukraine Oleksiy Ryabikin.

Deputy Minister of Energy of Ukraine Mykola Kolisnyk emphasized the importance of strategic partnership and mutual support between Ukraine and Poland: we have related gas and electricity infrastructure, common goals of “green transition” and capacity development.

People’s Deputy of Ukraine Artem Kovalev, co-chairman of the VRU deputy group on inter-parliamentary relations with the Republic of Poland, emphasized that Poland has already proven that it acts as a leading logistical and military hub for Ukraine. And after our victory, Poland’s role in the reconstruction of Ukraine will only increase.
“Legislative and executive power should work together, especially when we talk about European integration”, – emphasized People’s Deputy of Ukraine, co-chairman of the VRU deputy group on inter-parliamentary relations with the Republic of Poland Mykola Kniazhytskyi. During the Forum’s security discussions, he noted that Russia will try to destabilize Ukraine’s relations with its Western partners, the United States. And today it is Poland that has become a leader in supporting Ukraine in Europe.

“At the level of parliaments, we have an effective dialogue, we also agreed on the creation of joint groups to work in various areas, to attract funds for the restoration of our country. The decisions of their government depend to some extent on the opinion of Polish parliamentarians. Polish experience is invaluable for Ukrainians: both at the level of the state and self-government. We need this experience for European integration”, – noted Kniazhytskyi.

He also presented the activities of the Defense Information Consortium to the Forum participants. Security and defense specialists prepare analytical reports for the country’s defense needs. This is an opportunity for the state to receive the opinions of independent experts and consult with leading analysts. “Our task was to create an extremely strong expert pool that would work for the needs of Ukrainian defense and the Ukrainian state. “All-Ukrainian Democratic Forum” and “Espreso” TV channel support this initiative”, Mykola Kniazhytskyi said.

“Representing the local self-government bodies of Poland, I can say that we have something to learn from you, namely, how you work with critical infrastructure, self-defense.” – Jacek Karnowski, a member of the Sejm of the Republic of Poland, emphasized during the discussion on reconstruction.
He also advised to decentralize power as much as possible. “In my opinion, the maximum power should be transferred to the lowest level, then it ensures the highest efficiency”, – said Jacek Karnovski.

Countering disinformation, hostile propaganda and attempts to divide Ukrainians and Poles became the topic of discussion in another panel of the meeting.

“The old stories that once divided us and today continue to influence our cooperation should be left to historians and removed from the agenda. Partners should act on a transparent ideological basis“, – emphasized the director and editor-in-chief of TVP World Michal Bronyatovskyi.

The participants of the Ukrainian-Polish meeting declared their intention to cooperate in strategic areas, agreed to continue the dialogue, implement joint initiatives and involve other states of Central and Eastern Europe in the partnership.

Every year, the Via Carpatia forum ends with the presentation of the Stanisław Vincenz Prize. This year’s laureate of the award named after the Polish philosopher and chronicler of the Hutsul region Stanisław Vincenz “For Humanistic Service and a Contribution to Regional Development” was a director, actor, People’s Artist of Ukraine, general director-artistic director of the Ivano-Frankivsk Drama Theater Rostyslav Derzhypilskyi.

Literary and artistic meeting “Context: war” will be held in Kyiv as part of the Via Carpatia 2024 Forum

Warrior-writers in the center of Kyiv will meet for a three-day mini-residence and will hold creative meetings with young people. In a special focus – parallels of Ukrainian military literature of this and past wars.  On November 11-13, the Seventh International Forum of Central and Eastern Europe Via Carpatia 2024 will be held for the first time in Kyiv. Within its framework, dozens of Ukrainian military writers will gather for a three-day event Literary and artistic meeting “Context: War”.
Among the soldiers who, despite their main work at the front, find time and inspiration for literary creativity – Olena Mokrenchuk, Serhiy Pantyuk, Volodymyr Skorostetskyi, Vitaly Zapeka, Bohdan Nazarenko, Roman Dronyuk, Andriy Humenyuk, Rustam Dmytruk, Olena Lototska, Serhii Dzyuba, Oleksandr Prodan, Myroslav Otkovich, Volodymyr Korotya, Valery Palchyk, Oleg Borodai, Andriy Karpenko, Leonid Matyukhin, Ruslan Leskiv... All of them will be united by the literary and artistic meeting “Context: War”, which this year will take place in the format of a mini-residence with public literary readings and a special children’s program.
In addition, traditionally for Via Carpatia, the forum will end with an award ceremony the Stanisław Vincenz Prize “For Humanistic Service and a Contribution to Regional Development”.
“This is the most special author community of the modern literary environment – combatants and veterans, – says the curator of the “Context: War” meeting Tatiana Pylypets, director of the Lviv Library named after Roman Ivanichuk, co-founder of the Forum of Military Writers. — They practically do not have time for reflection, so the opportunity to create common meanings at the residence in Kyiv is invaluable, and not only for the community, but also for society in general. War adds voices of pain and hope to literature, creating a chronicle of change and new meaning that we cannot afford to lose. Warriors who create literature in the trenches are a force apart in these dark times. When darkness creeps into you, grab their word like the hand of a trusted friend. The sincerity of this writing will dispel the densest darkness and lead to the path of light. There is no greater opportunity for the rear to “feel” the front than to hear its voices. To become their reinforcement and relay.”
“Creativity is just one of the mechanisms of social rehabilitation during the war, — says from his own experience a military writer, an officer of the social support department of the Main Directorate of the National Guard of Ukraine Bohdan Nazarenko. — It is a bridge between the past and the future. Between the terrible real present and a peaceful life. We want to be heard. And while we live, while the heart of each of us beats, we will create and fight for our state.”
“These artists combine creativity and military service, which makes their experience unique. At the core of the theme of the residency is living and understanding the military reality of previous generations of Ukrainian literature and comparing it with modern, – says Yaryna Yasinevych, director of Via Carpatia Forum. – This is how we strive to return the experience of our predecessors to the current mental map, to perceive it in a new way. We see in this a powerful decolonization potential and the possibilities of autotherapy.”
The literary and artistic meeting “Context: War” was supported by the Ukrainian Book Institute. The Via Carpatia 2024 forum takes place with the financial support of the International Renaissance Foundation. At the same time, the content of the Forum events is not the official position of the IMF.

Our struggle is the future of the whole world – Mykola Kniazhytskyi at a meeting with the youth of Drohobych

People’s deputy Mykola Kniazhytskyi addressed the youth of Drohobych and answered their questions. The meeting was preceded by the transfer of computer equipment to the schools of the region as part of the Leave no one behind partnership project

Schoolchildren from Lyceum No. 2 of the Drohobytsk City Council actively asked the parliamentarian questions about modern challenges, the role of media and information technologies in shaping the consciousness of young people, as well as about informational threats during the war.

The MP said that Ukrainian youth bear great responsibility for the future of the country and the entire democratic world. “Ukraine found itself at the center of world history. What is happening now in our country is of great importance for the future of the whole world. We are defending not only our independence, but also democratic values, for which many countries are fighting,” emphasized Kniazhytskyi.

Students were also interested in the issue of combating disinformation. Kniazhytskyi casually called on young people to be attentive to information, check its veracity and avoid the spread of fakes. “The media is each of you. Today, thanks to social networks, every person can influence the information space”, said the deputy, answering the question “How do the media shape the consciousness of young people?”.

In addition to discussions, the meeting had another important part – the transfer of equipment for schools in the region within the framework of the Leave no one behind partnership project. It is implemented by the public organization “All-Ukrainian Democratic Forum” with the support of Taiwan and with the assistance of Mykola Kniazhytskyi. In total, 4 schools of Drogobych region received 48 laptops and projectors with screens: Lyceum No. 2 of the Drogobych City Council, KZ LOR Regional Scientific Lyceum, Stebnytskyi Gymnasium N18 and Stebnytskyi Gymnasium N11 named after Taras Zozuli.

“Young people should be provided with modern tools for learning. This is especially important now, when the latest technologies are becoming an integral part not only of education, but also of our struggle for independence,” concluded Kniazhytskyi.

Teachers at the university, and students at the entrepreneurship camp: Taiwan’s computerization and innovative education project continues

48 computer science teachers gathered for the second time at the Ukrainian Catholic University for a one-week training session. Educators from Ivano-Frankivsk and Poltava regions came to Lviv to improve their qualifications.

“IT is a difficult specialty to learn, but it is rewarding. Mastering technologies contributes to the development of our country. For teachers, today’s training sessions are a responsibility and at the same time a great prospect”, – stressed the First Vice-Rector of UCU Yaroslav Prytula.

At the same time, students from six Lviv schools, under the guidance of coaches from UCU, will study at the entrepreneurship and innovation camp this week. The first camp in Lviv started at the Grono Lyceum of the Lviv City Council.

Improving the qualifications of informatics teachers and training schoolchildren in entrepreneurship are two components of the same project “Leave no one behind in partnership”. It is implemented by the public organization “All-Ukrainian Democratic Forum” with the support of Taiwan and with the assistance of Mykola Kniazhytskyi.

According to Ulyana Pak, the coordinator of the “Leave no one behind partnership” project, in just a few months, dozens of schools in Ivano-Frankivsk and Lviv regions were covered by educational activities. Educational institutions participating in the project receive new equipment for computer science classrooms.

“Schools have different levels of technical support. From Taiwan, we received a unique opportunity to install modern computers, projectors with screens in computer science classrooms, and to present robotics kits to schools. We cover facilities in remote communities as well as in cities. First of all, we give new knowledge, and after training – new equipment. In order for computer science lessons to be of high quality, teachers should explain new directions, such as robotics, Python, STEM. At the same time, in innovative education camps, we demonstrate design thinking methods to teenagers and teach them how to plan their own business. After such a course, a young person will have a better idea of what to associate his own future with. I want to thank the teachers who applied to participate in the Ukrainian-Taiwan charity project. It is good that educators act innovatively, are open to partnership and create a comfortable educational space in schools,” Ulyana Pak emphasized.

“It is very important to us that Ukrainian children stay in Ukraine. That they are interested in studying here, doing business, using technology and being modern people in the modern world,” emphasized Mykola Kniazhytskyi, the founder of the public organization “All-Ukrainian Democratic Forum”. the challenges of the global economy. The participation in the camps and trainings will inspire the young people to create a competitive start-up. At the same time, the teachers will improve their skills in teaching digital subjects. The “Leave no one behind partnership” project is a part of Taiwan’s efforts to protect democracy in the world. shares resources for the development of Ukraine. So that we rebuild and develop our state and preserve its talented, hardworking citizens.”

Robotics and STEM: Teachers gain knowledge that is missing from educational programs

For the first time in Lviv, a few years ago, a lesson on robotics for students was implemented in SZSH No. 55. And this year, computer science and robotics teachers Oksana Voytiuk and Oleg Hruba without hesitation applied to participate in the Ukrainian-Taiwanese project “Leave no one behind partnership”. They say that they understood well what benefit the school would receive. After all, the team of teachers over the years has been a participant in various projects, involving resources in the development of the educational space.

“The project direction is for us every time new knowledge and an opportunity to improve the material base. In addition, the professional development of teachers contributes to the improvement of the quality of education and the development of an innovative environment in the school,” says school director Ihor Galushko.

Although the teachers managed to equip the computer science classrooms with joint efforts, they say that the available equipment has become outdated over the years. Informatics teacher Oksana Voytiuk notes that, in addition to computers, modern knowledge and the ability to teach information to children in a new way are valuable for educators.

As a reminder, the charitable educational project “Leave no one behind partnership” was presented to educators in June. Informatics teachers from schools in the Lviv, Ivano-Frankivsk, and Poltava regions submitted applications for participation in the IT training competition at the Ukrainian Catholic University. 48 teachers from 24 schools are currently studying at UKU. The next training session will begin on October 21. And after the end of the course, teachers will receive sets of computer equipment for school computer science classrooms.

“The opportunity to become a student of UCU for a while motivated us a lot. After the first session, we received a lot of homework from the university teachers. Sometimes we even work on weekends to get everything done. Lectures on programming, STEM, and artificial intelligence were of great interest. These topics are present in the program of the new Ukrainian school (NUS), however, no one prepared teachers for this. This year, in the lessons of the 7th grade, I am already using the material of the lectures of the first session at UCU”, concluded Oksana Voytiuk.

According to the deputy director of the school, Olena Lozynska, teachers’ participation in the “Leave no one behind partnership” project is a responsibility to carry the acquired knowledge further, to pass it on to children and colleagues.

“We are motivated and ready to learn new things in our educational practice. As a whole team, we confidently overcome challenges, every time we support each other in creating changes,” the teachers say.

The project of innovative education and computerization is implemented by the NGO “All-Ukrainian Democratic Forum” with the support of Taiwan and with the assistance of Mykola Kniazhytskyi.

“We often hear about the outflow of Ukrainians abroad, about the demographic crisis and the aging of the population. But these problems have real solutions if we invest in the development of our citizens here and now. That is why the goal of this project is to improve the qualifications of teachers, computerize schools, give young people quality education and understanding that they are needed by the state. We will support and motivate them in this. Every such contribution to education is a contribution to the future of Ukraine,” emphasizes the founder of the All-Ukrainian NGO democratic forum” Mykola Kniazhytskyi.

Computers for schools and entrepreneurial experience for students: innovation camps in Drohobych

30 tenth graders from two Drohobych schools took part in the innovation and entrepreneurship camp. Teenagers worked in six teams, under the guidance of coaches of the Ukrainian-Taiwan charity project “Leave no one behind partnership”. Pupils of Lyceum No. 2 of the Drogobytsk City Council and the Communal Institution of the Lviv Regional Council “Regional Scientific Lyceum” proposed their own business projects, conducted business negotiations, and created prototypes of completely new useful products.

“The project is aimed at the development of innovative education for young people and the computerization of schools and covers three regions: Lviv, Ivano-Frankivsk, and Poltava. In Lviv Oblast we held an entrepreneurship and innovation camp in Sheptytskyi, and the next ones will be held in Stebnik and Lviv. After the training, we give it to the teams certificates, and later we bring them computer equipment for school computer science classrooms. Thanks to Taiwan, we have the opportunity to equip schools with new computers and develop children’s non-standard modern skills,” emphasizes the coordinator of the “Leave no one behind partnership” project, Ulyana Pak.

Maksym Franchuk is a tenth-grader at the Regional Scientific Lyceum in Drohobych. In the future, the young man plans to study at the Faculty of Law. According to him, the structure of building one’s own business, which the coaches told about during the entrepreneurship camp, helps to understand the components of business.

“There is no such knowledge in the school curriculum. Therefore, the camp is an opportunity for each of us to learn something more useful than in lessons at school,” said Yuliana Veselovska, a tenth-grader of Lyceum No. 2 of the Drogobytsk City Council.

Pupils who participated in the camps receive confidence in their own abilities and useful modern learning materials, and schools receive sets of computer equipment.

“Today, even four or five computer science classrooms are not enough for large schools,” emphasizes Larisa Pankevich, director of Lyceum No. 2 of the Drogobytsk City Council. “Not only high school students, but also junior school students should be involved in computer studies. In addition, not only computer science, but also other subjects should be studied with the help of gadgets, with access to the Internet.”

Charity project “Leave no one behind partnership” implemented by the public organization “All-Ukrainian Democratic Forum” with the support of Taiwan and with the assistance of Mykola Kniazhytskyi.

In total, the project team will conduct 16 educational camps in the Lviv region. In addition, under a separate educational direction of the project, computer science teachers from Brody, Yavorov, Busk, Stryi, together with colleagues from Ivano-Frankivsk and Poltava regions, are improving their qualifications at UCU.

The project team has already handed over 224 new laptops and projectors with screens to schools in the Ivano-Frankivsk region.

“We direct the international investment from Taiwan to the education and development of the youth,” noted Mykola Kniazhytskyi, founder of the All-Ukrainian Democratic Form NGO. – Entrepreneurship camps were held in Ivano-Frankivsk region and started in Lviv region, and later will be in Poltava region. After the exercises, we will hand over 1,100 laptops to schools in the three regions. Children from large cities and remote communities of our country will have the same conditions for learning, the same motivation. This is a new generation of Ukrainians who will build a better country”.

Schoolchildren in the Lviv region learn entrepreneurship, while their schools receive Taiwanese computers

Entrepreneurship and innovation camps for schoolchildren have started in Lviv region. Teams of students from two schools in Sheptytskyi (Chervonograd) were the first to learn how to generate innovative ideas and received certificates for new computer equipment for school computer science classrooms.

More than 400 students study at Chervonograd Gymnasium No. 2. According to the principal, Ruslana Vereskun, two computer rooms of the gymnasium have had technicians since 1999 and 2004. And for important online exams, students bring their own computers from home. At the same time, talented children win IT competitions.

“Last year we won 4 prizes of the city Olympiad. This is a good result. Chervonograd is a mining region, and in the conditions of transformation of the coal industry, children choose future specialties, are interested in professions related to engineering and programming. Schools need new equipment to meet the needs of students,” said the director of the gymnasium.

The goal of the Ukrainian-Taiwanese charity project “Leave no one behind partnership” is to give children additional, innovative knowledge that will be useful to them in adult life and to computerize schools. Project trainers come to schools and hold two-day training sessions with high school students. Children in teams work on original ideas for their own business, learn to negotiate, present an innovative product, and attract investments.

“Many Ukrainian schools lack computers, or the equipment needs to be updated. Thanks to Taiwan, we have the opportunity not only to equip schools with new equipment, but also to develop non-standard modern skills in children. In the Lviv region, we plan to organize and hold 16 educational camps, in Sheptytskyi (Chervonohrad), Drohobych, Stebnyk, Lviv. In addition, computer science teachers from Brody, Yavorov, Buska, Stry are improving their qualifications at UKU. And this is a separate area of the educational project. All schools will be replenished with sets of laptops and projectors,” said the coordinator of the “Leave no one behind partnership” project.

Teams of schoolchildren from 17 educational institutions of the Ivano-Frankivsk region have already generated ideas in entrepreneurship camps. 224 laptops and projectors with screens were given to their schools, in particular to the mountain communities of the region.

The project of innovative education and computerization “Leave no one behind partnership” is implemented by the public organization “All-Ukrainian Democratic Forum” with the support of Taiwan and with the assistance of Mykola Kniazhytskyi.

“We direct international investment from Taiwan to education and youth development,” Mykola Kniazhytskyi, the founder of the NGO “All-Ukrainian Democratic Form”, emphasized. This is a new generation of Ukrainians who will build a better country.”

The Leave no one behind partnership project continues: Schools in the Ivano-Frankivsk region receive laptops from Taiwan

On Monday, September 9, over two hundred new laptops brought from Taiwan began to be handed over to educational institutions of the Ivano-Frankivsk region, which are participants in the Ukrainian-Taiwanese Leave no one behind partnership project

On Monday, September 9, over two hundred new laptops brought from Taiwan began to be handed over to educational institutions of the Ivano-Frankivsk region, which are participants in the Ukrainian-Taiwanese Leave no one behind partnership project.

Under the terms of the project, schoolchildren studied in two-day entrepreneurship and innovation camps. Student teams proposed innovative business ideas and presented projects to their peers. After training, the children received certificates for computer equipment for school computer science classrooms.

“Chalk and blackboard have long been in the past, every school needs computer equipment,” says Iryna Sumaruk, head of the department of education, youth and sports of the Verkhovyna settlement council. – “There are no such topics as innovation and entrepreneurship in the school curriculum. You can study this, for example, on paid courses or platforms. And thanks to the Taiwanese educational project, our children have gained valuable knowledge in their community, and modern computer science rooms will appear in schools.”

The Verkhovyna OTG of the Ivano-Frankivsk region unites 11 mountain villages. In total, there are 29 educational institutions in the community, 12 of them are preschool.

“We held the first educational camps in the mountain villages of the Ivano-Frankivsk region. We managed to reach 16 schools in the region, in particular, to visit remote communities. In total, about 5 thousand children study in these educational institutions,” said the project manager in the Ivano-Frankivsk region, Maria Makivnychuk.

“As soon as the computer equipment arrived from Taiwan to Ukraine, we took it to the schoolchildren. It is important that the children from the new school year continue to get acquainted with innovative technologies with modern equipment. Thanks to our partner – Taiwan – we will also hold such camps in the Lviv region, and later in the Poltava region. At the same time, 48 computer science teachers from three regions are currently improving their qualifications at UCU, using a unique methodology. Their schools will also be equipped with computer classes. This is a separate project called “leave no one behind”.

The project is implemented by the “All-Ukrainian Democratic Forum” public organization with the support of Taiwan and with the assistance of Mykola Kniazhytskyi. The goal of the project is to improve the quality of education and make technology accessible to schoolchildren.

“As part of our cooperation with partners from Taiwan, dozens of Ukrainian schools will receive computer classes. We will hand over more than 1,100 computers that children will use to learn how to live in the modern world. We started entrepreneurship and innovation camps in mountain communities. Many internally displaced persons came to the mountain regions escaping the war. Local children will have the same opportunities as residents of other villages and cities. This is our investment. in the future, so that young people can live, develop, and work in Ukraine. Our schools must be the best, and the children must be the smartest. Together, we will build a better country,” emphasizes Mykola Kniazhytskyi, the founder of the All-Ukrainian Democratic Forum.
