More than six and a half thousand teenagers from all over Ukraine cast their votes for their favorite book in the “Espreso. Readers’ Choice” award.
Stories about witchcraft, pagan gods and ancient journeys have become better in the 5th, anniversary season of the award. They were read both in Ukraine and abroad.
These are books “The Enchanted Sword” by Volodymyr Arenev, “Traveling Circus of the Silver Lady” by Natalia Dovgopol and “Wind Mountain” by Anna Bagryana.
Librarians even developed special instructions for voting for a favorite book. And their readers simply swept copies off the shelves.
The organizing committee received thousands of completed questionnaires from readers in the “Literature for teenagers” category. There they shared their impressions of what they had read, criticized and admired the Ukrainian book. Due to the invasion of Ukraine by the Erephy, the award’s organizing committee decided to postpone the award ceremony. However, the organizers are already ready to announce the name of the winner.
The main award of the book award is already going to the publishing house “Our Format” and to the author Anna Bagryana’s winning books. And the writer herself notes that she will continue to write for teenagers abroad, where she is now. After all, now young Ukrainians are in great need of high-quality national literature.
