Ukrainian dissident and vice-rector of the Ukrainian Catholic University Myroslav Marynovych became a laureate of the Stanisław Vincenz Prize for humanistic service and a contribution to regional development.
At the solemn closing ceremony of the First International Conference “Vincenz Circle: The Future of the Carpathians” within the framework of the Via Carpatia International Forum of Central and Eastern Europe, the awarding of the Stanisław Vincenz Prize for humanistic service and a contribution to regional development took place.
The prize is annually awarded to representatives of local self-government, public organizations and opinion leaders in various dimensions of public life. The organizers assure that the nominees of the award affirm high humanistic ideals, enrich the historical memory of the people, its national consciousness and identity, and are an example of high moral and professional qualities.
Myroslav Marynovych, a founding member of the Ukrainian Helsinki Group, organizer of the amnesty movement in Ukraine, and vice-rector of the Ukrainian Catholic University in Lviv, won the 2018 Stanisław Vincenz Prize for humanistic service and a contribution to regional development.
“I am touched, because Kryvorivnya has been known to me since my youth as a place where world representatives of Ukraine at that time came. I could never have dreamed that it would be here that I would be awarded the Stanisław Vincenz Prize. I am very grateful for this award! The very name of Stanisław Vincenz is a symbol of his own work for the humanitarian service of regional development, love for his native land and his small Motherland. This is what we all wanted to revive it with you.”
– noted Myroslav Marynovych.
