Computer science teachers from three regions of Ukraine will learn the basics of Python programming, robotics and STEM education. Schools whose teachers have been trained will receive new equipment for computer classes free of charge.
The head of the board of the All-Ukrainian Democratic Forum public organization Yaryna Yasynevych and the rector of the Ukrainian Catholic University Taras Dobko signed an agreement on the joint implementation of the charitable educational project “Leave no one behind partnership”.
During the year, teachers and IT practitioners from UCU will conduct three training modules for educators. After completing the training, informatics teachers from the Lviv, Ivano-Frankivsk and Poltava regions will receive certificates and equipment for school informatics classrooms.
The project was initiated with the assistance of Mykola Kniazhytskyi. Last year, more than 100 computers were handed over to Ukrainian schools. This year, the project included an educational component – professional training of teachers.
“Ukrainian children should be kept in Ukraine and interested in education as much as possible. Computer science teachers will learn from the best IT specialists, and then pass on their knowledge to schoolchildren. Such synergy is important for creating a community of young Ukrainians aimed at progress and technological development. This is the future victory and this is a powerful investment of Taiwan in the intellectual potential of Ukraine”, Mykola Kniazhytskyi emphasized.
According to UCU rector Taras Dobko, the restoration and reconstruction of Ukraine after the war depends primarily on competent, professional, patriotic people.
“In order for such people to appear, schools and universities work. This program will strengthen teachers in the area of computer science and information technology. They will be able to undergo additional training, gain knowledge in robotics, and get the opportunity to open robotics classes. This will help develop the skills of schoolchildren who are interested in this field, and who will help Ukraine to become a technologically independent country. We believe that these young people will stay in Ukraine and work on the restoration of our state,” concluded Taras Dobko, rector of the Ukrainian Catholic University.
To participate in the project, teachers should fill out the registration form, which will open on June 17. In advance, educators are invited to take a survey, which is led by the Team of the Faculty of Applied Sciences of UCU in cooperation with the Public Organization “All-Ukrainian Democratic Forum”. If you are a computer science teacher teaching in Ukraine, your experience will be very valuable for us in shaping the content of the computer science and robotics curriculum for teachers. https://docs.google.com/forms/d/e/1FAIpQLScaDraCo8IOisXlStyQ-9hWevwV95DalM_xHaR6INikmgBf6Q/viewform
