On June 1, on World Children’s Day, as part of the “Shelter – Friendly Lviv” project, attractions for Lviv schoolchildren and children who left their homes due to the war were held in the city of Leva. More than a hundred boys and girls gathered at the stadium of the 40th school, among whom half are children from the front-line regions who live and study in Lviv during the full-scale invasion.

The event began with a joint performance of the anthem of the Sich riflemen “Oh, in the meadow red viburnum…”. After that, the children took part in mobile games, a flash mob and tug-of-war. A master class on combat hopak was also held for those interested. As a sign of support for our defenders, children drew blue and yellow flags and hearts with chalk.

Such joint activities of boys and girls from regions where hostilities are currently ongoing with their peers from Lviv contribute to the rapid adaptation of children to a new environment, and also help to find new friends.

The “Shelter – Friendly Lviv” project for children from families who were forced to leave their homes due to the war is implemented by the NGO “All-Ukrainian Democratic Forum” with the support of Stiftung Schüler Helfen Leben. Sports events and master classes are also held within the project.
