During July 2021, in the 2nd stage, the highly respected Expert Jury of 12 professional literary experts, critics and children’s writers chose the best books from the Long List. This year, the choice for experts turned out to be difficult. It is nice to note that many books worthy of victory were submitted to this year’s competition

The finalist works first went through a two-stage selection. Thus, out of 79 publications in the category “Literature for children” that were submitted for evaluation by the jury, 3 books made it to the finals.

Five editions had the same number of points, but according to the terms of the competition, there should be three finalist books. Everything was decided by the “voice” of the last expert.

Among the three books-finalists of the book award “Espreso. Readers’ Choice 2021” in the nomination “Literature for children” included the following works:

“Alexa Dovbush. The Secret of Power” Vasyl Karpiuk (“Discursus” publishing house)

But the story of the most formidable leader of the Carpathian opryshkas began with a stubborn boy who unexpectedly received great power for himself. Plunging into this story, you and Oleksa will live in the forest next to wolves and vyrkas, join the Opryshki band and look into the world of the heroic past of the Carpathians. And most importantly, in the end you will find out where Oleksin’s Power came from and whether he was able to master it.
