The expert jury of the “Espreso. Readers’ Choice 2020” book award has begun its work. The Jury of the Prize in the category “Literature for Teenagers” included 11 experts, including literary experts, university teachers, critics, journalists and other industry representatives. All experts are independent and do not represent the interests of any publishing house.
Oksana Proselkova – teacher of Ukrainian language and literature at the Kramatorsk Secondary School of Grades I-III, No. 11, author of the reading project to popularize the reading of modern Ukrainian children’s and adolescent literature in the East of Ukraine “School Readings” (as part of the All-Ukrainian Project “All Ukraine Reads to Children”).
Iryna Kuzmenko – head of the All-Ukrainian Children’s Competition “PeroDactyl”, project manager
Natalia Nevmerzhitska – head of the service department for middle-aged and older children of the National Library of Ukraine for Children
Anna Dudko – a book blogger
Tatyana Kachak – literary critic, candidate of philological sciences, associate professor of the department of professional methods and technologies of primary education, doctoral student of Vasyl Stefanyk Prykarpattia National University, head of the Ivano-Frankivsk branch of the Center for the Study of Literature for Children and Youth
Natalia Marchenko – leading specialist of the National Children’s Library, head of the “Klyuch” portal
Olga Novyk – doctoral student of philological sciences, professor of the Department of Ukrainian and Foreign Literature and Comparative Literature, Faculty of Philology and Social Communications of Berdyan State Pedagogical University
Anna Kobets – journalist, coordinator of the project to create an ecological space in the library “Green library”, librarian of the Kyiv library on Priotka for children
Olena Ryzhko – writer, adolescent reading expert, member of NSPU, candidate of philological sciences, doctoral student in social communications, associate professor of the department of social communications at the Institute of Journalism of the Taras Shevchenko KNU
Valentina Zakhabur – writer (poet, novelist), librarian, organizer of literary studies for children and youth
Olena Fidkevich – candidate of philological sciences, leading researcher of the department of teaching languages of national minorities of the Institute of Pedagogy of the National Academy of Pedagogical Sciences of Ukraine, scientific consultant of the international experiment of the Ministry of Education and Culture of Ukraine on the formation of multilingualism of national minorities with the support of the Office of the High Commissioner of the EU.
At the second stage, each expert will process the Long List of 14 books submitted to the competition by 8 publishing houses and choose their favorites. After voting, 3 finalists will be determined in three nominations, which will go to the third stage.
Book prize “Espreso. “Readers’ Choice” was founded by the “Espreso” TV channel in 2017 and is supported by the NGO “Demforum” in order to celebrate the best domestic literary novelties of the year and to support interest in reading books in Ukraine. We strive for publishers to find an effective way to reach readers through recommendations, reviews and evaluation of books by readers and authoritative experts. The peculiarity of our Award is that its winners are determined by readers at the last stage by voting in libraries throughout Ukraine.
The winners of the Prize will be announced at the end of November 2020 on the air of the “Espreso” TV channel, on the “Espreso.TV” and NGO “Demforum” websites.
