The expert jury of the book award “Espreso. Readers’ Choice 2020” in the category “Literature for adults” has started its work.
The Jury of the Prize included 15 experts, among them: literary experts, university teachers, critics, journalists and other industry representatives. All experts are independent and do not represent the interests of any publishing house.
Maryna Lazarenko – coordinator of the “Open Library” project.
Nina Golovchenko – literary critic, candidate of pedagogical sciences, associate professor; a member of NSZHU.
Yaryna Tsymbal – literary critic, candidate of philological sciences, researcher at the Institute of Literature named after T. G. Shevchenko, National Academy of Sciences of Ukraine.
Oksana Shchur – curator of the Literary Laboratory of the “Art Arsenal”, literary critic.
Oleg Solovei – literary critic and literary scholar. Associate Professor of the Department of Theory and History of Ukrainian and World Literature of Vasyl Stus Donetsk National University.
Olga Derkachova – writer, Doctor of Sciences, Prykarpattia University (Ivano-Frankivsk).
Serhiy Pyatchenko – associate professor of the department of foreign literature of Sumy State Pedagogical University, candidate of philological sciences, poet, member of NSPU.
Sofia Filonenko – a professor at Berdyansk State Pedagogical University.
Sofia Chelyak – program director of the NGO “Publishers’ Forum”, cultural manager, translator.
Iryna Troskot – editor-in-chief of the “LitAkcent” website.
Khrystyna Bukatchuk (Kukharuk) – literary critic, poetess, journalist.
Bohdana Romantsova – editor of Tempora publishing house, literary critic, lecturer.
Vadym Vasylenko – researcher, Department of Ukrainian literature of the 20th century and modern literary process, Institute of Literature named after T. G. Shevchenko;
Svetlana Taratorina – book blogger, writer, project manager
Rostislav Melnykiv – critic, journalist, literary critic and poet.
At the second stage, each expert will process the Long List of 97 books submitted to the competition by 29 publishing houses and choose their favorites. After voting, 3 finalists will be determined in three nominations, which will go to the third stage.
Book prize “Espreso. “Readers’ Choice” was founded by the “Espreso” TV channel in 2017 and is supported by the NGO “Demforum” in order to celebrate the best domestic literary novelties of the year and to support interest in reading books in Ukraine. We strive for publishers to find an effective way to reach readers through recommendations, reviews and evaluation of books by readers and authoritative experts. The peculiarity of our Award is that its winners are determined by readers at the last stage by voting in libraries throughout Ukraine.
The winners of the Prize will be announced at the end of November 2020 on the air of the “Espreso” TV channel, on the “Espreso.TV” and NGO “Demforum” websites.
