143 schools from Lviv Oblast, Poltava Oblast and Ivano-Frankivsk Oblast volunteered to participate in the innovative computerization project. This was announced by the organizers of the “Leave no one behind” project today, July 2.
Applications from computer science teachers from the three regions ended on July 1, after more than two weeks of active registration. The largest number of applications came from Lviv Oblast — a total of 77 schools. 10 educational institutions were registered in Poltava, and 20 in Poltava region. Ivano-Frankivsk region also actively joined the project, presenting 29 schools for participation.
The goal of the “Leave no one behind” project is to raise the level of education in schools and modernize school computer science classrooms. The initiative received financial support from the government of Taiwan.
Computer science teachers who successfully pass interviews with the competitive commission will study programming at the Ukrainian Catholic University.
“Technologies are updated every year. If the teacher is ready to additionally invest his time and effort in his own development and in the development of his students, this is a priority for the project. Teamwork is also important for us, so that those who gain knowledge will later transfer their experience to other schools,” explained project coordinator Ulyana Pak.
After several months of training, successful completion of homework, educators will receive modern equipment for their classrooms. And this is 16 computers, a projector with a screen and a set of robotics for each school.
The winners of the competitive selection will be announced after July 12. For the educational stage of the project, 48 teachers will be selected, two each from 24 schools.
The project is charitable, the participation of educators is free of charge. It is implemented by the public organization “All-Ukrainian Democratic Forum” with the support of Taiwan and with the assistance of Mykola Kniazhytskyi.
“We are grateful to everyone who joined the project and is ready to cooperate. IT is a promising field for young people, and we also see how important robotics is for the defense of the country, or how much STEM develops children’s various skills and interest in learning. Thanks to our partners, we can provide teachers with knowledge and equipment for work, and children with modern education. We are currently implementing the innovative project in three regions, and later we plan to spread it throughout the country. This is how it will happen a whole network, a community of innovative education in Ukraine”, Mykola Kniazhytskyi noted.
