The forum “Via Carpatia 2020. Places of Ukrainian strength” was a success, we can finally say that. Discussion panels were held live on the Espreso TV channel and a number of events were held in various locations of the city.<\/p>\n

Discussions were devoted to the formation and development of institutions in Ukraine, technological solutions and copyright in the field of culture and Ukrainian places of strength. The forum ended with a panel organized by the Ukrainian PEN, “What gives us strength?”.<\/p>\n

All discussions were broadcast on Facebook and are available on the page\u00a0facebook.com\/VIACARPATIAforum<\/a>\u00a0in the record.\u00a0<\/p>\n

“Via Carpatia always takes place in Verkhovyna, Ivano-Frankivsk region, but since there is now a quarantine and the region has been in the red zone for a long time, they could not hold it there this year. At first, they hesitated whether to hold the forum at all, but decided to move it to Lviv and hold it partially live. And we were right! People are very thirsty for an intellectual discussion live, let it take place in a television studio – it is a special atmosphere, a high degree of tension. Famous politicians, public figures, journalists, writers spoke about Ukrainian places of strength, and the studio itself became the place where intellectual strength is created. By the way, the new Espreso studio in Lviv started its work from the broadcast of Via Carpatia panel discussions.”<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n

Offline events were held in cooperation with the Ukrainian PEN. Writers from Penev presented books for children – Ivan Andrusiak and artist Maria Savko, and for adults – a collection of essays “Bridges instead of walls. What unites Ukrainians?”.<\/p>\n

Poetry readings by SYLAbotonika gathered fans of poetry in the Lviv Regional Youth Library named after R. Ivanychuk.<\/p>\n

The central event of the forum was the presentation of the award named after Stanis\u0142aw Vincenz “For Humanistic Service and a Contribution to Regional Development”. The third laureate of the award was Leonid Finberg, director of the Center for Research in the History and Culture of East European Jewry and editor-in-chief of the Spirit and Litera publishing house.<\/p>\n
